In this video, we review the can seaming chuck plate and go over the steps on how to set it up and check it to make sure it is functioning properly.

We are going to go over how to set and check the Seaming Chuck Plate. First, you will need to remove the lever blocks in the neutral position. 

Seaming Chuck Bell Clearance

The first thing to look at is the seaming chuck bell clearance. Use a set of paper filler gauges to measure the clearance between the seaming chuck and the chuck belt. 

Starting with an 8000 TH Spieler gauge, the spec is 7 to 10,000 TH. In the video, it shows a tight 8000 TH Spieler gauge that fits in there.

From this point, the dial indicator is set up and zeroed on station number one. One tip is when using a beveled tip, use the high point of the tip with the same degree.

Check the Seamer Stations

Then check the next two stations. Make sure to record the same degree for each station.

Make sure to note that. In the video, it is reading a -3. Continue to the next station.

Station #3 is reading -1. You want to maintain ±1 thousandths from station to station. 

From this point, you would indicate the remaining 9 stations and record all of those measurements. 

From there, either remove or add the correct shims to each station.
